Oh! Freshman Week

The first week of classes has come to an end. A good tradition continues, and traditionally the academic year started with O! Week—an introductory week for first-year students, filled not only with new acquaintances among classmates and instructors but also with a wealth of informational, cultural, and educational events.training programsand events.

First-year students met with the head of the university, Viktor Moshynskyi, to communicate and ask questions to the rector. Viktor Stepanovych introduced the institution, talked about the transformations at the university during his tenure, highlighted the advantages of studying at the higher education institution, and discussed further opportunities for students. He awarded certificates and souvenir branded products to the students who scored the highest on the NMT. The first-year students were interested in questions related to the modernization of the institution, the university's image, curriculum development, the construction of a church near the sixth building, and more. Viktor Stepanovych emphasized that his door is always open for any initiatives and encouraged students to reach out and not hesitate to do so.

From the senior lecturer of the Department of Physical Therapy and Ergotherapy Oleg Kyryk, students learn about basic first aid skills, the group of measures it consists of, the sequence of providing pre-medical assistance to an injured person, the algorithm for providing first aid in cases of brief loss of consciousness (fainting), and resuscitation measures in case of respiratory arrest.

Practical psychologists Inna Misko and Marina Dmytriieva shared how first-year students can immerse themselves in student life without stress, establish connections with classmates and teachers, make a good impression, and cope with inner feelings. Additionally, participants took part in the training "Green Hands of Help" and learned more about the activities of the practical psychology and social work sector.

The head of the public relations department, Vitaliy Prokopeets, talked about media at NUVHP. The listeners became familiar with all the information resources of NUVHP and learned how to get involved in creating content for the institution, experiencing what it's like to be a journalist, videographer, or photographer. In return, in addition to university-wide popularity, one can also gain other additional benefits.

Regarding civil safety, in particular, the fund for protective structures of civil protection, the algorithm of actions during the "Air Alarm" signal, operation and rules of conduct in the Civil Protection Service, and the order of actions upon discovering an object resembling an explosive device, along with its characteristics, was explained by the head of the Life Safety and Civil Protection Center, Vasyl Panasiuk.

The head of the education quality department, Viktor Korbutiak, spoke about leadership in student life, student-centeredness, personal development, mutual respect, students' rights, academic integrity and its violations, consequences for both students and educators, the use of artificial intelligence, as well as the declaration on upholding academic integrity by students of NUVGP. He also discussed the opportunity to influence the development of NUVGP, study subjects outside one's specialty, evaluate the work of instructors, not take exams, make suggestions for improving education, and many other useful and interesting topics for first-year students.

Digital educational innovations are a priority direction for the information and computing center's activities, including the modernization and development of information technologies at the university, electronic document management, IP telephony, technical information protection, development and technical support of web resources, service resources, software, corporate resource administration, technical support for networks, and more, explained the head of the information and computing center, Vitaliy Nazaruk. Vitaliy Dmytrovych also detailed the "For students" tab, the "Office," resources with authorization, rules for using email, and online classes throughGoogle Meet, student electronic cabinet, digital repository, platformMoodle, Help Desk service, Virtual Campus, and the mobile app "My NUWGP." He also invited collaboration with the IOC.

The head of the Center for International Cooperation and Education, Vladyslav Solodkyi, introduced first-year students to the international partner countries of NUVHP, ongoing international programs and virtual academic exchanges, academic mobility, grant programs, permanent international programs, and joint master's programs.

Ludmila Stasyuk, the head of the Center for Non-Formal Education, spoke about whether it is possible to study without textbooks and lectures, the activities of the non-formal education center, advantages of non-formal and informal education, non-formal education programs that operate at the university, online platforms with free online courses, and recognition of learning outcomes obtained outside higher education institutions.

Bogdan Zubrytskyi, head of the Department of Physical Education, acquainted first-year students with the sports opportunities provided by the department, how to engage in their favorite sport or continue previous training. Later, anyone interested could sign up for a chosen section, which included: football, basketball, volleyball, athletics, boxing, table tennis, arm wrestling, fencing, Pilates, stretching, and others.

During an interactive session on the organization of learning and assessment led by the director of the NCSEF, Fedor Shvets, attendees learned about the activities of the educational and scientific center of independent assessment at NUVHP, its work, functions and tasks, the advantages of student knowledge assessment at the center, the Moodle learning platform and its functional capabilities, how entry and practical tasks are handled, the system for assessing the learning outcomes of higher education students, semester, current and final control, and the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System managed by the instructors.

The head of the Student Development Center, Kateryna Pryndiuk, and the head of the Partnership Development Center, Pavlo Shevchuk, spoke about the 'real' student life. Thus, first-year students learned about their rights and responsibilities, how student life differs from school life, how to behave in classes, with teachers, and in the dormitory, opportunities for obtaining named scholarships, where to spend their leisure time, student self-government, and employment, among other things.

In the 'Creative Revolution,' first-year students became acquainted with the student parliament and watched the best creative performances of students.

First-year students also underwent a foreign language assessment to determine their proficiency level for subsequent grouping.
