The first week of training for the grant project has concluded.#AFISHEThe classes were conducted by the representative of the aquaculture company 'Laursen Aquaculture', Anastasia Horestka.. The training involved the laboratories of the Department of Aquatic Bioresources, equipped with aquariums for ornamental fish, as well as the integrated multitrophic aquaculture (IMTA) laboratory, funded by the grant. In addition to the supporting staff, the project manager, Professor of the Department of Aquatic Bioresources Sergey Konontsev, joined the training.
In the IMTA laboratory, training participants were introduced to the equipment for automated fish feeding, gained skills in programming auto-feeders of different designs, and learned the correct selection of feeds for them. The training participants also became acquainted with the pumping and aeration equipment designed for pumping and aerating water within the laboratory installationRAS, and the main aspects of equipment use, including installation conditions and periodic maintenance.
Particular attention in the training program was given to investigating the relationship between the key pollution indicators of the water in recirculating aquaculture systems and the efficiency of the water treatment systems. Anastasia Horestka demonstrated the process of measuring dissolved pollutants using the universal water analyzer purchased within the project.AFISHE .
The final stage of the training in the IMTA laboratory is a planned visit to the aquafarm 'Laursen Aquaculture' in the second week of the program,https://www.laursen-aqua.com.ua/, where participants will be able to familiarize themselves with the processes of breeding and growing one of the most promising aquaculture species – the clarias catfish.
