On September 15-16, the 6th working meeting was held as part of the Erasmus+ AFISHE grant project, 'Development of Aquaculture and Fisheries Education for Green Deal in Armenia and Ukraine: From Education to Ecology'.”.
The online meeting organized by Sumy National Agrarian University (SNAU) gathered representatives from universities in Ukraine, Armenia, and the EU, as well as stakeholders from the agricultural and fisheries sectors. Participants discussed the results of this international project, modern approaches to the development of education and science in aquaculture and fishery.
Natalia Savina, Vice-Rector for Scientific Work and International Relations of NUWGP, delivered a welcoming speech to the participants of the meeting, while the key results of the project were reported by Yulia Grokhovska and Olga Bedunkova from our university's team.
Thanks to the active participation of project partners, it was possible to outline the prospects for further interaction and to define concrete steps for the implementation of new educational approaches within the context of the European Green Deal.
Particular attention was paid to cooperation with stakeholders - representatives of the educational environment, business, and the public, who are key participants in the development process of aquaculture and fishery. Stakeholders invited to the meeting from the State Agency of Melioration and Fisheries of Ukraine and aquaculture enterprises professionally characterized the challenges and opportunities for this sector in Ukraine. Their experience and vision allow for making the project results more practice-oriented and beneficial for society.
This international event became an important step in strengthening partnerships between universities, research centers, and production, outlining new opportunities for the development of aquaculture and confirming the strategic significance of the AFISHE project.
