We have good news from the Institute of Aquatic Resources and the Department of Aquatic Bioresources.
NUWGP has become a participant in the international project AFISHE 'The Development of Education in Aquaculture and Fisheries for the Green Course in Armenia and Ukraine: From Education to Ecology' within the EU Erasmus+ Program.
Our partners are the Armenian National Agrarian University (Republic of Armenia), the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia (Republic of Armenia), the Slovak Agricultural University in Nitra (Slovak Republic), Sumy National Agrarian University (Ukraine), the University of Dubrovnik (Republic of Croatia), and the University of Porto (Portuguese Republic).
The general goal of this project is to reduce the negative impact of aquaculture and fisheries on the environment in Armenia and Ukraine by developing and implementing innovative approaches to the training of master's level students.
The main activities of the project include the development and organization of training programs with all supporting materials, the creation of laboratories, and the conduct of training sessions for teaching and support staff of universities.
The AFISHE projectAfishe facebookwill create a network between Armenia, Ukraine, and partner EU countries in the fields of aquaculture and fisheries. It will serve as a platform for implementing joint educational and research activities aimed at promoting the best environmental approaches and measures in these areas in accordance with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the EU Green Course.
The project will last for 3 years. During December 2022, several organizational events took place within the project: an online meeting with colleagues from the Armenian National Agrarian University and Sumy National Agrarian University (December 8); to ensure the fulfillment of NUWGP's tasks as a partner in the grant project, a working group was established by the rector's order, which started working on the implementation of project tasks, consultations were held with the planning and financial department, and meetings were conducted with the heads of the administrative and economic sector of NUWGP regarding the creation of a modern aquaculture laboratory at the university (December 22 and 28).
