Working meeting within the framework of the AFISHE grant implementation
As part of the implementation of the international grant project AFISHE "Development of Aquaculture and Fisheries Education for the Green Deal in Armenia and Ukraine," an online meeting took place between the project groups of Sumy National Agricultural University and National University of Water Management and Nature Management.
The main goal of the meeting, which took place on April 6, 2023, was to discuss the programmatic outcomes of the master's degree in aquaculture and fisheries at both partner universities, which have a similar strategy for developing specialties, take into account business wishes, and are developed according to the AFISHE project policy.
Victoria Vecherko presented the program outcomes of the future master's educational program "Aquaculture," with the specialty in Technology of Production and Processing of Animal Products, which is planned for creation at Sumy National Agricultural University. This current step in implementing the AFISHE project showed a wide field for its enhancement and improvement.
The discussion on the content of the program involved representatives from our university: Serhiy Konontsev, Yuliia Hrokhovska, Alla Pryshchepa, Olha Biedunkova, Tetiana Poltavchenko, Alla Kucherova. Our representatives also shared their experience of implementing the program within the Department of Aquatic Biological Resources at the NUWGP and the latest proposals provided by employers regarding the enhancement and expansion of professional competencies and program outcomes for higher education students.
In summary, based on the outcomes of the meeting, the project groups of both universities exchanged thoughts and recommendations based on mutual analysis of the outcomes of master's programs in aquaculture and fishing, which are expected to be implemented within the framework of the AFISHE project in the next three years. As a result, the project group of SNAU gained a professional critical analysis of the results of project-based learning, which will undoubtedly positively influence the development strategy of the university's master's program. Meanwhile, the project group of NDU, having participated in a deep study of learning outcomes at SNAU, was able to compare the two programs, allowing for further improvement of their own master's program.
