Representatives of the Institute of Agroecology and Land Management worked for three days at the kickoff meeting within the Ukrainian-Armenian project for the creation of master's programs in aquaculture and fishing ERASMUS+ AFISHE.
From January 25 to 27, 2023, the kickoff meeting of the project participants took place as part of the ERASMUS+ AFISHE project on the topic 'Development of Education in Aquaculture and Fishing in Armenia and Ukraine: FROM EDUCATION TO ECOLOGY'. It was an intensive and fruitful work. The first results of cooperation with representatives of European and Ukrainian higher educational institutions were obtained with the assistance of the International Scientific and Educational Center of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia.
During the meeting, many important issues regarding the implementation of the project were discussed. These included the development of curricula and modules in aquaculture and fishing for the master's degree according to the Bologna process; the development of human resources, infrastructure, and capacity; plans to disseminate information about the project's implementation; and expanding connections between higher education institutions and stakeholders to promote education and retraining of specialists in fisheries and aquaculture. During discussions, representatives from Armenia, Ukraine, and Portugal emphasized the importance of maintaining the concept of 'from education to ecology,' which is the foundation of the AFISHE project.
The working group of the National University of Water Management and Nature Management, represented at the meeting by Professor Yulia Grokhovska, Professor Sergey Konotsev, Director of the Institute of Agroecology and Land Management, Professor Alla Pryshchepa, Head of the Grants Department of NUWGP Alla Kucherova, Professor Olga Bedunkova, and Head of the Department of Aquatic Bioresources Tetyana Poltavchenko, sincerely thanked the organizers for the experience gained and new approaches to planning the implementation of the international project in the field of fisheries and aquaculture.
