CHAIR OF WATER SUPPLY, SEWAGE AND DRILLING AFFAIRS
The history of the department began in 1930 as one of the subdivisions of the Kyiv Engineering Melioration Institute (KIMI). The department's instructors conducted classes for students of the water supply, engineering melioration, and agro-melioration faculties. After relocating to Rivne in 1959, it continued its work as part of the Ukrainian Institute of Water Management Engineers. The department consisted of Bublyk A.I., Obolensky Yu.A., Trubenyuk V.D. In the following year, this composition was replaced by instructors: Ilyin V.G., Safonov M.A. and Shopin G.G. In subsequent years, the department staff changed due to the influx of new instructors: Belozorov M.P., Eliseev M.Ya., Matsnev A.I. and others.
From among the graduates of the first graduating class in the specialty "Water Supply and Sewerage" (1965), Sivak V.M. (group leader), Zhurb M.G., and Vepryeva O.I. joined the department.
Gradually, the best graduates from the melioration, hydrotechnical, and construction faculties joined the department, namely: Khoruzhiy P.D., Rogov V.M., Orlov V.O., Gіrol M.M., Filippchuk V.L., Lytvynenko L.L., Tkachenko O.A., Shadura V.O., Nazarov S.M., Kosinov V.P., Kvartenko O.M., Orlova A.M., Martynov S.Yu.,Hrytsyna O.O.and others.
The department conducted classes in the hydromelioration, hydrotechnical, or construction faculties, where the specialty "Water Supply and Sewage" was available in different years. The staff of the department continuously expanded, leading to the creation of the departments: "Water Supply and Drilling Affairs" and "Sewage and Sanitary Engineering". Their activities commenced on September 1, 1964. These departments, along with the departments of theoretical mechanics, strength of materials, and foreign languages, became part of the newly established construction faculty (from 01.09.1964) to prepare engineers in specialties 1202 "Industrial and Civil Engineering" (ICE) and 1209 "Water Supply and Sewerage" (WSS). Associate Professor Eliseev Mykhailo Yakovych became the first dean of the construction faculty.
In 2013, part of the instructors from the "Sewage and Sanitary Engineering" department (Kovalchuk V.A., Vyzhevska T.V.) joined the department. Since that time, the department has had its current name.
The founder and first head of the Department of Water Supply and Drilling Affairs was Ilyin Volodymyr Hryhorovych, who later became a Doctor of Technical Sciences and a Professor. The heads of the department over the years were: Ilyin V.G. (1962 - 1966, 1969 - 1972); Belozorov M.P. (1966-1968); Eliseev M.Ya. (1968 - 1969); Safonov M.A. (1972 - 1982); Khoruzhiy P.D. (1983 - 1988); Rogov V.M. (1988 - 1998); Orlov V.O. (1998 - 2016); Shadura V.O. (2016 - 2019), Martynov S.Yu. (since 2019).
The department is responsible for training engineers-builders under the educational and professional program "Water Supply and Sewage". Masters who aim to associate their lives with science or teaching can continue their studies at the department for the purpose of obtaining the third academic degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and subsequently higher academic degrees of Doctor of Sciences.
In 2024, the department expanded its educational activities and commenced training for the second (master's) level in the specialty 162 "Biotechnology and Bioengineering", field of knowledge 16 "Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering", educational and professional program "Biotechnology".
From 2025, the department will be responsible for training in the following educational programs of specialty G21/162 "Biotechnology and Bioengineering":
- first (bachelor's) level under the educational and professional program "Biotechnology, Bio-Robotics and Bio-Energy" specialty G21/162 "Biotechnology and Bioengineering" full-time study
- second (master's) level under the educational and professional program "Biotechnology» " specialty 162/G21 "Biotechnology and Bioengineering" full-time study. The group leader isHrytsyna O.O. / Oleksandr Hrytsyna.
