Participation in the educational forum "PRO Water: Career in Water Management"

The educational forum "PRO Water: a career in water management," dedicated to the Day of Water Management Workers.

The event took place on June 5, 2026, in the assembly hall of NUVHP in a mixed format — offline and online. Its key message was: "Water is life! Water is technology!" It was around this idea that representatives from education, science, government bodies, specialized institutions, and the water management sector united.

The event was attended by scientists from the Educational and Scientific Institute of Agroecology and Land Management, as well as students at the first, second, and third levels of higher education in specialties from the Institute of Agroecology.

The forum was opened by the rector of NUVHP Viktor Moshynskyi, who emphasized the important role of the university in preparing specialists for the water sector, developing scientific schools, and forming a modern human resources potential for Ukraine. As a specialized higher education institution, NUVHP has many years of experience in training engineers, managers, researchers, and practitioners working with water resources, hydraulic infrastructure, ecological safety, and sustainable development.

The welcoming speeches were also delivered by representatives of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Rivne Oblast State Administration, the State Agency of Water Resources of Ukraine, and the scientific community. Among the participants at the opening were Oleg Bondarenko, a member of the Ukrainian parliament and chair of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Environmental Policy and Natural Resource Use; Eduard Proshchuk, a member of the Ukrainian parliament and chair of the subcommittee on the protection and rational use of water resources and state monitoring of the environment; Oleksandr Kovalchuk, a member of the Ukrainian parliament and deputy chair of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy; Oleksandr Koval, deputy chair of the Rivne Oblast State Administration; Ihor HOPCHAK, head of the State Agency of Water Resources of Ukraine; Mykhailo Yatsiuk, director of the Institute of Water Problems and Melioration of the NAAS of Ukraine.

During the forum, participants discussed current issues related to the development of water management, integrated water resource management, international technical assistance, digitization of the sector, and training specialists for the new generation.

In particular, Mykola Urupa, head of the Basin Water Resources Management of the Middle Dnipro, presented experiences and priorities in integrated water resource management. Oleg Kysil, head of the Basin Water Resources Management of the Tisza River, spoke about the implementation of international technical assistance projects in the field of water management.

Particular attention was paid to the digital transformation of the water sector. Ihor Mosiychuk, head of the regional water resources office in Rivne Oblast, emphasized the need to prepare 'digital' water management specialists capable of working with modern technologies, data, automated systems, and water resource management tools.

Ecologists who participated in the forum were active participants in discussions about the current state of water resources, the challenges of their conservation and restoration, as well as ways to rationally use water potential in the context of increasing anthropogenic pressure and climate change. Special attention was given to integrating scientific approaches into the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, in particular ensuring access to clean water and sanitation, conserving aquatic ecosystems, implementing sustainable natural resource management principles, and forming an ecologically balanced development model.
