Significant attention is paid to research work by the department's faculty. Over the past five years, they have published about 270 research results. Conducting research on domestic, foreign, and international legislation, the faculty publish their results in monographs, textbooks, educational manuals, professional legal publications, in periodicals included in scientometric databases recommended by the Ministry of Education and Science, including Scopus or Web of Science Core Collection, in foreign and international scientific publications, and in other publications on legal and educational topics.
The following sectors operate at the department:
1. The research sector of legal informatics, which studies the potential use of means and methods of informatics in combating crime and its prevention.
2. The research sector of Ukrainian constitutionalism and human rights protection, whose goals are: - conducting scientific, scientific-technical, and scientific-organizational activities; - promoting the improvement of the quality of legal education through ensuring a close connection between research and the educational process of the Institute of Law of the University; - raising the level of theoretical and practical knowledge, skills, and competencies of legal education students; - providing additional opportunities for research work for scientific and pedagogical staff of the Institute of Law of the University; - preparing and educating legal education students in the spirit of adherence to and respect for the principles of the rule of law, justice, and human dignity; - facilitating access to legal assistance for citizens of Ukraine (including representatives of socially vulnerable groups of society), foreigners, and stateless individuals; - expanding cooperation of the Institute of Law of the National University of Water Management and Nature Management with the judiciary, law enforcement agencies, justice authorities, state authorities, and local self-government, as well as with other institutions and organizations.
Other scientific schools and student research groups also function, within the framework of which the students of the Institute of Law are constantly engaged in research work. The broad and diverse scientific interests of the department provide students with a wide range of research opportunities and the possibility of publications in collaboration with faculty in leading domestic, foreign, and international legal publications.
