Anti-Corruption Awareness of Future Cyber Specialists: Meeting at the Institute of Information Technologies and Computer Engineering

At the National University of Water Management and Nature Use (NUWNU), a series of meetings continues aimed at forming an anti-corruption culture among youth. This time, the event was held for first-year students of the educational and scientific institute of KITI, who are studying in the specialty F5 'Cybersecurity.'

The guest of the meeting was the head of the Department for Prevention and Detection of Corruption of the university, Anatoliy Zakharets.

The main focus during the communication was on the specifics of Ukraine's anti-corruption legislation. The speaker emphasized that future cybersecurity specialists are not only protectors of information borders, but also key figures in preventing corruption risks, as new challenges often arise in the digital environment related to the abuse of position, unauthorized access to data, and information manipulation.

The department head explained to the students in detail:

• the main provisions of the Law of Ukraine 'On Prevention of Corruption';

• types of liability for corruption offenses;

• the concept of conflict of interest and ways to resolve it;

• ethical aspects of working with confidential information, which is critically important for future IT professionals.

Particular attention was paid to the issue of resolving conflict situations, especially those related to corruption risks.

The discussion of practical cases aroused significant interest among first-year students. Cybersecurity students actively participated in the discussion, asking questions about how to distinguish legitimate official access to information from abuse of rights, as well as the role of anti-corruption programs in the IT sector.

"The formation of zero tolerance for corruption should begin from the very first days of studying at the higher education institution. For students in the specialty 'Cybersecurity,' this is especially important, as the security of entire systems in the future will depend on their integrity and legal awareness. You are the future elite of the cyber front, and your main weapon is not only knowledge but also a high level of trust," noted the department head.

The Deputy Director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of KITI, Volodymyr Herus, thanked the department head Anatoliy Zakharets for the meaningful conversation and expressed hopes for further cooperation within the framework of the educational components taught at the Computer Engineering Department.

Such events are an important element of the educational work of NUVHP, as they contribute not only to increasing the legal awareness of students but also lay the foundation for the formation of a new generation of specialists with high moral and ethical standards.
