On February 26, 2026, a lecture in English on the subject 'Machines and Equipment for Biotechnology' titled 'Bioprocessing Foundations: From Biomass to Bioproducts. Introduction to the Bioprocessing' was held at the Department of Agroengineering. The lecture was conducted by Associate Professor Oksana Valetska.
The goal of the lecture was to familiarize students of the 'Agroengineering' specialty with the basic principles of biotechnological processes underlying the production of bioproducts from biomass, as well as to develop their professional competencies in the field of technical English. During the session, the main stages of bioprocessing were discussed – from the preparation and processing of biomass to obtaining final bioproducts used in the food, pharmaceutical, energy, and agricultural sectors. The lecture introduced students to the principles of operation of bioreactors, fermenters, and other technological equipment used in biotechnological production. Features of fermentation processes, the role of microorganisms in converting organic raw materials, and the main technological parameters affecting the efficiency of bioprocesses were considered, including temperature, pH level, aeration, and stirring speed. Special attention was given to modern approaches to automation and control of biotechnological processes, the use of monitoring sensor systems, and digital technologies for managing bioreactors. The potential for using biomass for producing biofuels, biopolymers, and other valuable biotechnology products was also discussed. Conducting the lecture in English contributed to the development of professional communication skills among students in an international scientific and educational environment, expanded their technical vocabulary, and fostered skills for working with English-language scientific sources.
Such classes are an important component of modern training for specialists, as the combination of engineering knowledge with proficiency in English opens new opportunities for students to participate in international educational programs, scientific research, and projects in the field of agroengineering.
