International Activities

The international activities of the Department of Therapy and Rehabilitation are an important component in the development of educational, scientific, and innovative efforts, aimed at integrating into the European and global educational and scientific space. This is implemented through the participation of faculty and students in international scientific events, academic cooperation programs, international internships, joint scientific research, publications in international journals, as well as the involvement of students in international educational initiatives and non-formal education programs. The development of international cooperation contributes to the improvement of the quality of the educational process, the updating of educational content, the implementation of modern physical therapy and rehabilitation methods, and the formation of intercultural and professional competencies in students.

The faculty members of the department are actively integrated into the international professional community. They are members of professional organizations, including the public organization "All-Ukrainian Association of Physiotherapists" and the European Network of Physiotherapy in Higher Education (ENPHE), which promotes the development of professional contacts, experience exchange, and the implementation of European standards in the training of specialists in the field of physiotherapy and ergotherapy. An important aspect of international cooperation is the participation of faculty members in international scientific conferences. In particular, Professors I.M. Hryhus, N.Ye. Nesterchuk, and R.M. Korobkova participated in the ENPHE 2024 international conference "Physiotherapy Education: Striving for Excellence Through Collaboration," which took place in September 2024 in Warsaw at the Faculty of Rehabilitation of the University of Physical Education named after Józef Piłsudski. Participation in such events facilitates the exchange of experiences with leading European specialists, familiarization with current trends in the development of physiotherapy, and the improvement of educational programs in accordance with international standards.

One direction of international cooperation development is interaction with foreign higher education institutions and participation of students in international educational initiatives. Within the framework of cooperation between the National University of Water Management and Nature Resources Use and Newcastle University, higher education students participated in a program for developing and improving spoken English in an academic environment. The participants included Korniychuk S., Kyrychyk O., Zhdanevych M., Yaremenko S., Shevchenko D., Dryha Yu., and Kurach Zh. An important component of the department's international activities is the involvement of students in international scientific conferences. In 2023-2025,higher education seekersactively participated in the International Scientific and Practical Conferences "Modern Challenges of Education and Science," organized by the Educational and Scientific Institute of Health Care. The research results of the department's students and faculty are actively published in international scientific journals. In particular, students Petrovska N. and Udodik S., in collaboration with Professor N.Ye. Nesterchuk, have published scientific articles in the specialized journal Rehabilitation and Recreation, which is indexed in the Scopus database. Such publication activity contributes to the popularization of the department's scientific results in the international scientific community.

An important element of the department's international activities is the implementation of non-formal education practices, which allows students to expand their professional knowledge and competencies in line with current international standards. Students actively participate in online courses on international educational platforms such as Plus by Physiopedia, Prometheus, and the NCSU Academy. Upon completion of their studies, they receive certificates that confirm the formation of professional competencies in the field of physical therapy, rehabilitation, evidence-based medicine, and the organization of medical services. Successful participants include Daryna Samosvat, Liliya Voznyuk, Vladyslav Harkushenko, Natalia Hrabар, Yevhenia Kovalchuk, Viktoria Trofymchuk, Viktoria Loposha, Roman Makarchuk, Nadiia Petrovska, Kateryna Lebeichuk, Mariia Dubenchuk, Daria Salivanova, Ivanna Tokarska, and Karina Derkach. By the department's decision, the results of this training are credited as elements of individual educational pathways for students, aligning with modern approaches to student-centered learning.

An important source of updating the content of educational components is international academic mobility and internships for educators. Professor I.M. Hryhus underwent an international internship at the University of Uni-Terra in Poznań (Poland) on the topic "Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy in Pulmonology and Cardiology" with a volume of 180 hours, as well as scientific internships at the Polish Society of Sciences in Grudziądz in 2023 and 2025 on the topics "Physical Therapy for Individuals with Different Nosological Groups" and "Physical Therapy for Patients with Cardiopulmonary Disorders." Professor N.Ye. Nesterchuk participated in scientific internships at the Polish Society of Sciences from 2023 to 2026 on the topics "Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy for Individuals of Different Ages," "Innovative Technologies in the Rehabilitation Process for Patients with Musculoskeletal Disorders," "Physical Therapy for Combatants," and "International Experience in Implementing Evidence-Based and Innovative Approaches in Therapy and Rehabilitation." Associate Professor O.B. Nahorna improved her qualifications through an internship at the Polish Society of Sciences in 2023 on the topic "Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy for Military Personnel and Their Families," while Associate Professor T.V. Hamma participated in an international internship on the topic "Current Moral and Ethical Issues in Modern Science and Healthcare."

Results obtained during international internships, scientific developments, and practical experience are integrated into the content of educational components, teaching materials, and practical training of students, which contributes to the implementation of modern international approaches to organizing the rehabilitation process and enhancing the quality of training for future specialists.

The development of international cooperation is further facilitated by the conclusion of partnership agreements between NUWEP and higher education institutions in Europe, creating opportunities for academic mobility, joint research, the implementation of educational projects, and the exchange of experience among teachers.higher education seekers..
