Laboratory of Processes and Equipment for Physicochemical Methods of Purification
History and achievements
In 1976, a scientific laboratory for the magnetic purification of liquid and gaseous environments was established, organized by Associate Professor Oleksandr Vasyliovych Sandulyak from the Department of Physics. In 1987, the staff of this laboratory, who were also faculty members, Oleksandr Vasyliovych Sandulyak and Vyacheslav Ivanovych Haraschenko, were awarded the Republican Prize named after M. Ostrovskiy in the field of science, technology, and production for their comprehensive research work "Research, Development, and Implementation of New Electromagnetic Filter-Settlers for Improving Liquid Quality."
In 1985, the creative team of the department, consisting of O.V. Sandulyak, V.I. Haraschenko, M.V. Yatskov, O.Y. Korkhov, O.P. Vezhansky, I.E. Vovk, V.V. Volkov, A.D. Dovhanyuk, and S.O. Kuznetsov, was awarded a gold medal at the 1st World Exhibition of Young Inventors (“Expo-85”, Plovdiv, Bulgaria).
From 1978 to 1985, for the first time at the institute, scientific developments of the department were patented in the USA, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Sweden, and India, resulting in the issuance of 45 foreign patents. In the 1980s, a licensing agreement was signed with the French company "Flonic Schlumberger" based on these patents for 2.5 million French francs (420 thousand US dollars).
In 1988, the interdepartmental "Problematic Research Laboratory of Electromagnetic Cleaning Methods" was established, with the scientific leader of the laboratory being Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Sandulyak O.V.; the head of the laboratory is the Honored Inventor of Ukraine, PhD, Senior Researcher Mykola Vasylovych Yatskov.
In 2002, the laboratory was renamed, and according to the order of the rector of NUWGP No. 295 dated 24.12.2002, a research laboratory for processes and apparatus of physicochemical methods of purification was established. The head of the laboratory until 2021 was PhD, associate professor, and Honored Inventor of Ukraine V.I. Haraschenko.
Since 2021, the head of the laboratory is Alexey Garashtshenko, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor at the Department of Chemistry and Physics of NUVHP.Yacheslavovich.
From 1976 to 2026, the scientific results of the laboratory staff are reflected in 2 doctoral dissertations, 17 candidate dissertations, 4 monographs, over 170 author certificates and patents, and more than 500 scientific publications. In addition, the laboratory's scientific developments have been successfully implemented and are operational in over 15 industrial enterprises both in Ukraine and abroad.
Scientific Directions:
- development and research of new technologies for physicochemical purification methods;
- development of new and improvement of existing methods for diagnosing the quality of technological environments that require cleaning;
- research of technological parameters of physicochemical cleaning methods processes for their optimization;
- development of new designs of devices for physicochemical methods of purification;
- improvement of the methodology for assessing the effectiveness of devices for physicochemical purification.
Main areas of activity:
- execution of orders from enterprises of various forms of ownership for the development, manufacturing, and implementation of physicochemical purification devices;
- development and transfer of scientific and technical documentation to enterprises for the implementation of physicochemical purification methods;
- sale of licenses for the use of scientific and technical developments of the laboratory;
- involvement of postgraduate students and students in research work;
- organization of employee training for manufacturing enterprises based on the faculty of advanced training;
- organization of seminars, conferences, meetings;
- use of research results in the educational process;
- publishing monographs, manuals, methodical guidelines.
Services for legal and physical entities:
- performance of work on the development of design, design, and manufacture of magnetic separators and settling filters for any technological conditions;
- development of the most rational scheme for implementing separators and settling filters in the technological process;
- manufacturing one or several modifications of separators and filters according to technological conditions and customer preferences;
- practical recommendations for the operation and monitoring of the separator and filter with training for technical staff;
- author supervision of the operation of the separator implemented in production for several years by agreement with the client.
