The Department of Legal Environmental Protection Disciplines is the scientific-theoretical basis for professional research, primarily in the field of environmental and natural resource law, as well as general legal directions.

The main direction of the department's scientific researchis scientific research workon the topic“Legal aspects of natural resource use, environmental safety, and modern environmental protection practices in Ukraine”, registered in Ukryntelei (№0125U002812; execution period 02.2025 – 12.2027).
The relevance of the topic is determined by the need to form an effective legal mechanism for eliminating the consequences of ecocide, harmonizing environmental legislation with EU standards, and ensuring sustainable natural resource management in the context of military challenges and post-war reconstruction. The head of the scientific topic at the department is the acting head of the department, candidate of legal sciences, associate professor Oksana Shvets.
Department staff are authors of educational textbooks, guides, monographs, and professional articles that are published in leading scientific publications in Ukraine and abroad. Research by the lecturers is cited in international scientometric databases Scopus and Web of Science, confirming the high level of the department's scientific activity.
The department actively participates in the organization and conduct of scientific and practical conferences, round tables, legal forums, and also promotes student involvement in research activities through scientific clubs and the publication of student articles.
