OPEN GUEST LECTURE BY INDUSTRY EXPERT, PROFESSOR O.B. NEKHANEVYCH ON HEALTHCARE 22

On November 30, at the Educational and Scientific Institute of Health Care, as part of the internal academic mobility of third (educational and scientific) level higher education students, specialty 227 Therapy and Rehabilitation, an open guest lecture on the topic: "Academic Integrity – An Effective Tool for Enhancing the Quality of Scientific Publications" took place in a distance format via the ZOOM platform. The lecturer was an expert in the field of knowledge 22 Health Care, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Physical Rehabilitation, Sports Medicine, and Health Sciences at Dnipro State Medical University, guarantor of the educational and scientific program "Physical Therapy, Ergotherapy" for training PhDs in specialty 227 "Physical Therapy, Ergotherapy," and responsible editor of the journal "Medical Perspectives" (a periodic professional publication of Ukraine in category "A," included in international scientific metric databases Scopus and Web of Science) Oleg Borysovych Nekhanievych.

When it comes to academic integrity in higher education institutions, it usually boils down to discussing academic plagiarism and the use of software for checking texts for textual matches. Moreover, academic integrity is often limited to the perspective of socio-humanitarian disciplines. Most importantly, the influence of the design of educational programs and subjects, formats of current and control assessments, teaching methods, and communication with students remains overlooked. During this online lecture, Oleg Borysovych explained how to cultivate a culture of academic integrity regardless of the subject and direction of teaching, strengthen its culture, discussed theoretical aspects of academic integrity, and outlined factors that directly influence the culture of academic integrity among scholars and higher education students. He highlighted possible variants of unintentional violations of academic integrity in publications through specific examples from journal practice.

Faculty members of the institute also had the opportunity to listen to the lecture. Everyone interested had the chance to ask the lecturer questions, engage in discussion on the lecture topic, and address several important aspects of academic integrity.
