On October 15, Ukraine and the world celebrate the International White Cane Day – a day dedicated to blind people.
According to the World Health Organization, about 2.2 billion people worldwide have vision impairments. More than 36 million people live with complete vision loss.
To draw attention to this issue, as well as to the needs of blind people in Ukraine and around the world, the International White Cane Day is celebrated every year on October 15. It also reminds us of the necessity to create conditions so that people with vision impairments or complete vision loss feel included in life, have access to information, and equal opportunities to learn, earn, and rest.
In a society that shares the values ofaccessibility,it is also important to promote a culture of tolerant communication, including with regard to people with vision impairments.
