Department of Accounting and Auditwas createdin October 1988at the Ukrainian Institute of Water Management Engineers (now – NUWGP). The department has been headed by:Volodymyr ShulhinPhD, Associate Professor (1988-1993),Svetlana ZubilevichPhD, Professor (1993-1995)Inna Lazaryshyna, Doctor of Economic Sciences, professor (1995-2017),Natalia Pozniakivska, Candidate of Economic Sciences, associate professor (2017-2025).
On July 1, 2025, the head of the Department of Accounting and Auditing was appointedDoctor of Economic Sciences,professorOlha Pavelko..
Currently, the department employs 10 instructors, including 5 professors (of which 4 hold the degree of Doctor of Economic Sciences) and 5 associate professors, candidates of sciences. The instructors of the department ensure quality training for higher education seekers in the field of knowledgeD 'Business, Administration and Law'in the specialtyD1 'Accounting and Taxation'at the first (bachelor's) and second (master's) levels (both educational programs - 'Accounting and Taxation').
The scientific and pedagogical staff of the Department of Accounting and Auditing have practical experience in their specialty, actively participate in the certification of scientific personnel as reviewers, opponents, and heads of specialized councils, and work as part of expert groups for the accreditation of educational programs.NAQA(Prof. Olga Pavelko, Prof. Olga Osadcha, Assoc. Prof. Olena Doroshenko, and Assoc. Prof. Oksana Zinkevich) are members of the GER (Prof. Olena Antoniuk) and are characterized by a high level of proficiency in a foreign language at the level ofB2 (Prof. Olga Pavelko, Prof. Olga Osadcha, Prof. Olena Antoniuk) have certificates confirming proficiency in digital skills for education, software for accounting, finance, and management.AI(Assoc. Prof. Olena Doroshenko, Assoc. Prof. Alla Syrotynska, Assoc. Prof. Nataliia Pozniakivska) engage in public activities as members of professional organizations, including the Federation of Professional Accountants and Auditors of Ukraine, the Association of Taxpayers of Ukraine, the Federation of Auditors, Accountants, and Financial Specialists of the Agrarian Sector of Ukraine, and the Union of Auditors of Ukraine. Prof. Svitlana Levytska and Prof. Olga Osadcha are listed in the Register of Auditors and Audit Entities. Prof. Svitlana Zubilevych and Prof. Olga Osadcha hold ACCA diplomas in International Financial Reporting (DipIFR), and Prof. Svitlana Zubilevych –cACCA Certificate in International Public Sector Accounting Standards (Cert IPSAS). Prof. Olena Antoniuk holds a diploma from the Institute of Certified Financial Managers in Internal Auditing (Professional Internal Auditor Dip PIA).
Mission of the Department of Accounting and AuditThe focus is on ensuring high-quality training of highly qualified specialists who possess modern systematic knowledge in accounting, taxation, auditing, analysis, and control, capable of applying professional skills, expertise, and competencies in practical activities to create quality information support for management purposes.
In 2021, at the initiative of the Department of Accounting and Auditing, 2 branches were established: based on the "Shturman" group of companies and the Regional Department of the State Property Fund of Ukraine in the Rivne and Zhytomyr regions. In 2025, the branches of the Department of Accounting and Auditing also included LLC "TRUST – AUDIT" and LLC audit firm "INFO-SERVICE-AUDIT."
The university's first graduation in the specialty "Accounting and Analysis of Economic Activity" with the qualification "Economist" took place in 1989. Today, over 10,000 graduates of the department (successful accountants, auditors, economists, financiers, tax specialists, and company directors working in various sectors of the national economy) are leading professionals in the fields of accounting, taxation, audit, analysis, and control. The high level of organization of the educational process and the quality professional training of graduates from the Accounting and Audit department allow them to confidently position themselves in the job market, enabling them to secure decent employment and ensuring further career growth.
