At the Department of Automation, Computer-Integrated Technologies, and Robotics work3 Doctors of Technical Sciences, Professors, and 14 Associate Professors – Candidates of Technical Sciences, 5 Senior Lecturers.Research activities focus on the development and improvement of automation systems, computer-integrated technologies, control systems, and modeling of industrial processes, as well as the design and implementation of specialized software for computer production management.
The department staff works on scientific topics: 'Development and research of elements and systems of automation and their modeling' (2018-2023) and starting from 2023 – 'Development, research of electrical engineering and automated systems and their elements.' The result of this work is the publication of 14 monographs, 9 textbooks, and 15 manuals.
Annually, the department's lecturers publish over 40 scientific papers in domestic and internationally recognized publications indexed by SCOPUS, Web of Science, Index Copernicus, give more than 50 reports at international and domestic scientific and scientific-methodical conferences of various levels, and obtain patents for inventions and utility models.
The scientific potential of the department is constantly increasing. From 2009 to 2025, the staff of the department has defended 5 doctoral dissertations and 8 candidate theses.
Under the guidance of Professors Drevetsky V.V., Safonik, Malanchuk E.Z., the supervision of postgraduates and doctoral students is carried out.
The available scientific potential and laboratory base of the department allow for the development of new automation systems for technological processes and individual elements of automated control and regulation systems. One of the leading areas of the department's research is
'Development of integrated solutions for industrial automation systems for water purification processes based on energy efficiency criteria' (State registration No. 0122U000190) (1164.890 thousand UAH), headed by Dr. of Tech. Sciences, Prof. Safonik A.P.The department staff has developed and implemented in production - software for predicting soil moisture, considering the action of stochastic disturbing factors based on neural networks.
Tests are being conducted for the control and management system of distributed objects using mobile and radio communication; research is underway on the use of neural networks for managing pumping stations for water supply in settlements, subsurface irrigation, and information measurement complexes.
The department continuously provides consultations on the use of:
- modern technical means of automation;
- implementation of software for programmable logic controllers and SCADA systems;
- development of automated systems with control algorithms based on fuzzy logic and neural networks;
- design and development of microprocessor embedded devices and multi-core computing systems based on FPGAs and programmable logic matrices;
- development of software for mobile computing devices based on Android and iOS OS;
- asynchronous electric drives with frequency control, microcontroller programming, and other issues using microprocessor automation means.
