General Information
The department was established in October 1933 as the Department of Engineering Structures within the Kyiv Engineering and Melioration Institute, initially employing four instructors. The first head of the department was Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Tyahunov O.H., who led it for 15 years. From 1949 to 1959, the department was headed by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Silin M.O. In 1960, the department was led by Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Chubov V.Ye., and in 1967, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Skvortsov M.P. was elected to this position. In 1969, a postgraduate program was opened at the department, with the first postgraduate students being Safonov H.H., Semenyuk Y.D., and Zhuk Y.V..
From 1970 to 2024 (with breaks), the department was headed by the honored worker of public education of Ukraine, Knight of the Order of Merit, academician of the Academy of Construction of Ukraine, honorary academician of the Academy of Higher Education of Ukraine, honorary professor of the National University of Water Management and Nature Management, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Yevhen Mykhailovych Babich. Since Babich Y.M. served as the vice-rector of the institute for scientific work from 1980 to 1999, the department was headed by Candidate of Technical Sciences, Professor L.P. Makarenko from 1985 to 1988, and from 1989 to 1999, by Candidate of Technical Sciences, Professor V.I. Babich..
During the existence of the department, more than 70 lecturers have worked there. beginning 1970s years recruitment team departments was carried out exceptionally persons with numbers graduates institute, graduationkiv graduate school departments and target postgraduate studies.Today, the department consists of 29 people, among whom there are 25 lecturers. Among the lecturers, there are four full members and 9 corresponding members of the Academy of Construction of Ukraine, four doctors of technical sciences, and eighteen candidates of technical sciences.
