The department's lecturers have published 24 monographs, over 320 scientific articles, abstracts, and reports. From 2015 to 2023, the lecturers published more than 90 articles in specialized publications of Ukraine and over 40 in foreign periodicals. 10 articles were published in publications that belong to the scientometric database SKOPUS.
The department is working on a number of budget topics:
1. "Research on working conditions in the field of subject activity, development of measures and means of protecting human beings and the environment from the impact of negative technogenic factors" (State registration number 0116U003757), accompanying letter number 001-526, dated 22.03.16. (2016-2021).
2. "Ecologization of peat extraction and processing methods in the production of fuel and fertilizer" (State registration number 0116U004198).
3. "Research on air vortex processes, their generation and modeling" (State registration number 0120U000236).
4. "Improvement of scientific and practical foundations of safety of technical systems and protection of human beings and the environment in conditions of technogenic environment" (State registration number 0121U113762).
All topics correspond to the priority direction of scientific and technical development approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on 07.09.2011, No. 942. Scientific and technical contract research has been conducted, including "Assessment of the emergence of dangerous situations due to the failure to perform professional duties by the absorption plant operator of the dilute acid workshop of PJSC 'Rivneazot'" (No. 4-660 dated 07.03.2017), "Development of requirements for occupational safety measures in project and technological documentation (occupational safety section)" (No. 4-738 dated 09.01.19) and others. The lecturers of the Department of Labor Protection and Life Safety participate in scientific research on labor protection, fire and environmental safety, scientific and technical expertise in criminal proceedings in the field of labor protection, and teaching in training courses and advanced training for workers in manual professions, which allows them to quickly provide stakeholders with information and knowledge about new scientific and practical developments on these issues and new regulatory documents on labor protection. The department has a student scientific circle "Human Safety," whose participants actively prepare works for participation in nationwide competitions of student scientific works. Between 2015 and 2023, they received four first places in the discipline "Labor Protection," two prize places - first and third in "Life Safety", and two first places in the discipline "Civil Defense." The applicants participate in student scientific conferences, publishing research results in student and specialized scientific collections of various universities. From 2017 to 2023, the applicants independently published 11 articles and abstracts, and together with lecturers - 73 articles and abstracts. 16 presentations were made at university, republican, and international conferences. The department held the second stage of the All-Ukrainian Student Olympiad in the discipline "Life Safety" for four consecutive years from 2012 to 2016. During 2015-2023, the applicants received 6 first places in the disciplines "Labor Protection," "Life Safety," and "Civil Defense."
In today's difficult conditions, the department's lecturers participate in the development and implementation of scientific and technical research regarding strengthening the defense capability of our state. In particular, proposals for the manufacture and use of mobile and container installations for obtaining drinking water in field conditions and in emergencies have been developed and transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine together with specialists from Ukrainian enterprises.
Together with scientists from various institutions of Ukraine and experts from the USA and Israel, scientific and technical guidelines have been prepared and approved at all levels, and modern developments for the implementation of safe equipment and technologies for water supply and wastewater disposal of settlements and territorial communities have been transferred to the appropriate organizations. Their goal is to improve technogenic and natural safety in southeastern territories affected by the military aggression of Russia, conducting combat operations with the development of comprehensive anti-epidemic measures in conditions of emergency situations of a military nature. The department's lecturers have been invited to participate in the investigation of ecocide by Russia in Ukraine, particularly within the framework of actions by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, the international organization "VONA. Inside Ecocide" (Ukraine, Germany, Estonia, Poland), during the Cannes Film Festival aimed at determining Ukraine's path to reparations for crimes against the environment.
Despite the increase in military threats and technogenic dangers, the Department of Labor Protection and Life Safety sees a clear prospect for its development and organizes the educational process aimed at forming an educated, harmoniously developed personality capable of continuously updating scientific knowledge, professional mobility, and quick adaptation to changes and development aimed at supporting Ukrainian statehood.
