International Activities

Department ofSoftware Engineering and Artificial Intelligenceactively expands the international horizons of the educational process by integrating advanced global practices, research in the field of Data Science, and relevant development stacks into the curriculum. A particular emphasis is placed on involving faculty and students in joint scientific projects, inter-university hackathons, international software development schools, and AI/ML workshops.

The international development vector of the department is subordinate to«Strategy for the Internationalization of the National University of Water Management and Nature Resources Use until 2030»and«Regulation on the Procedure for the Implementation of the Right to International Academic Mobility at NUWEE».

Thanks to informational support and resourcesthe Center for International Cooperation and Educationthe department community has constant access to relevant learning opportunities, research grants, and study abroad exchange programs. Students, graduate students, and faculty regularly participate in initiatives within the Erasmus+, DAAD, Erasmus Mundus, Fulbright Program, Horizon Europe, as well as specialized international internships, taking part in information days and meetings with representatives of global funds and technology hubs.

 

Research projects and inter-institutional cooperation

Internship at Newcastle University (UK, 2025).A team of students and academic staff from the department underwent training atSummer School at Newcastle University (Newcastle upon Tyne, UK).The visit took place as part of the PEACE-R2UK initiative (Programme to Enhance Academic Collaboration for Enabling Regenerative Reconstruction in Ukraine), funded by a prestigious grantUniversities UK International (UUKi) UK-Ukraine R&I Twinning Grants, and aimed at deepening academic collaboration for the recovery of Ukraine.

Participation in the European AI project WARIFA (EU Horizon program).The department's lecturers actively participated inthe preparation and implementation of the international project WARIFA (Watching the Risk Factors) under the EU Horizon program.On August 28, 2025, an extended meeting took place at NUVHP, bringing together international partners from Norway, Finland, Spain, Italy, Ireland, the United Kingdom, and Ukraine.

Participation in the project 'Water Renovation in Ukraine' (Czech Republic, 2024).Department representatives participated in the Third Practical School within the international project No. 22320101 'Water Renovation in Ukraine', held at Mendel University (Brno, Czech Republic).

Involvement of students and academic staff from the department in a series of practical workshops within the telemedicine project.Students and lecturers from the department participated in a series of practical workshops based on a real telemedicine IT project. The format allowed participants to go through the full process of creating a software product in conditions closely resembling Commercial Production.

 

Professional development and qualification improvement of lecturers

Course 'Computer Vision' (12/23/2024).Andrii Petrovych Povsheniuk successfully completed professional development totaling 31 academic hours (21 lectures). The training was conducted under the guidance of a leading European expert —Ján Koloda (Senior CV & ML Engineer, PhD, Gini GmbH).

 

Academic internships of lecturers

Erasmus+ project 'TransLeader'.Department lecturers successfully completed international internship under the program 'Best Practices for Practical Training and Knowledge Transfer in Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things' (Remote Training „Good practices in hands-on learning and knowledge transfer in AI and IoT”, event A2.6 of Erasmus+ project No. 2023-2-PL01-KA220-HED-000179445 'Transfer Model of Learning — the Best Choice for Preparing IT Business Leaders'). The internship took place from 11/08/2024 to 12/20/2024 under the auspices of Bielsko-Biala University (Republic of Poland).Participants:Yuriy Turbal, Viktor Zhukovsky, Natalia Zhukovska, Oksana Pryshchepa, Oksana Ostapchuk, Larysa Batyshyna, Olena Demchuk, Oleksandr Kubai, Andriy Povshenyuk.

International Project "Water Restoration of Ukraine."The faculty members participated in an international internship as part of the third Summer School held at Mendel University and the Technical University (Brno, Czech Republic). The event took place under the Visegrad+ grant."Water Renovation in Ukraine" (24.08.2024 – 02.09.2024). Participants:Zhukovska Natalia Anatoliivna.

Erasmus+ Personal Grants (KA171UCM).In order to expand educational and research collaboration, the faculty members received and successfully implemented personal grants at the University of St. Cyril and Methodius (June 3, 2024 – June 7, 2024, Trnava, Slovakia).Participants:Zhukovskyi ViktorVolodymyrovychNatalia Zhukovska.

 

Other forms of international cooperation

The faculty members of the department are involved in reviewing articles for reputable international publications. Among them is the scientific journal "Informatyka, Automatyka, Pomiary w Gospodarce i Ochronie Środowiska" of Lublin University of Technology, which is included in the Scopus bibliometric database.

At the scientific seminar of the department, led by Professor Bomba A.Ya., foreign scholars regularly speak. In particular, on October 31, 2025, Professor Nicholas Korgan from the University of Florida (USA) presented a report entitled 'Some Problems of Mathematical Biology'.

The department's scholars – from students and graduate students to lecturers – actively participate in the annual International Scientific and Practical Conference 'Modeling, Management, and Information Technologies'.
