Scientific Libraryconsists of five departments:
1. Service Department.
2. Information and Bibliographic Department.
3. Department of Acquisition and Storage of Collections.
4. Department of Scientific Processing of Documents and Organization of Catalogs.
5. Department of Information Technologies and Computer Support.
Provides services to users of all categories with scientific and educational literature. Studies the use of the library's collection by users. Conducts inventory of literature storage areas, organizes and holds thematic exhibitions. Ensures: quality and prompt service for users among staff, faculty, and graduate students to assist in the scientific and educational process; formation and storage of the collection of scientific and technical literature; user service in reading rooms; holding thematic exhibitions and exhibitions of new acquisitions; collection of dissertations and abstracts.
The main reading room includes
· foreign literature sector;
· periodicals sector;
Subscription services:
· senior courses and faculty subscription;
· junior courses student subscription;
· fiction subscription
· interlibrary subscription
· Since 2016, electronic document issuance and electronic registration of visitors have been implemented in the service department for junior courses students and in the main reading room. This allows tracking library attendance and the borrowing and returning of books daily, monthly, or over a certain defined period. A relaxation and leisure area has been created for visitors in the reading room, as well as a photo zone.
The task of the department's subscriptions is to maintain a unified registration of users; study and analyze refusals for literature, find ways to fully satisfy readers' information needs. Here, library users are served through ILL in case of absence of the necessary literature; they monitor the return dates of documents, work on the return of literature within the established timeframes; promote the achievements of science and technology, global and domestic cultural values through library working forms. Department staff provide differentiated service to students of all forms of study, faculty, university structural unit employees according to their requests based on broad access to library and information resources in traditional and automated modes; fulfill user requests, work in the collections, create thematic exhibitions, and continuously work on improving service.
The activity of the information and bibliographic department consists of ensuring comprehensive, quality, and timely reference-bibliographic and information services for students, graduate students, faculty, researchers, employees, and other categories. It also provides informational and bibliographic support for scientific events of the Scientific Library and the University. The department provides reference and information services to all categories of users in accordance with the university's scientific programs and modern teaching technologies. Using the licensed program 'UFD/Library', the department fills the library's reference and search apparatus with analytical descriptions of scientific collections, newspaper and magazine periodicals, and forms the electronic catalog's information-search apparatus. The department prepares a Bulletin of new arrivals, open reviews, and bibliographic reviews of literature, providing individual informational services. To assist the university's research and educational work, it compiles and issues informational and recommended literature lists, bibliographic indexes. It carries out the subject classification and systematization of scientific articles by university scientists according to the Universal Decimal Classification (UDC). Department staff assist researchers in registration in such scientometric databases as
asWeb of Science, Scopus.
Main areas of activity:
· provides comprehensive, quality, and timely reference-bibliographic and information services to students, graduate students, faculty, researchers, employees, and other categories of users according to their information requests;
· expands the range of information and bibliographic services using modern technologies;
· provides access to the use of its own electronic resources and Internet resources to library users;
· provides all types of bibliographic references, including in automated mode – using the electronic catalog;
· organizes and conducts bibliographic activities using both traditional and modern information carriers;
· compiles recommended bibliographic indexes of literature on higher education issues and the most relevant topics;
· provides bibliographic consultations on the rules for using the library's electronic resources and the methodology for compiling literature lists;
· holds Bibliography Days, Information Days, Specialist Days;
· organizes themed exhibitions, reviews, and bibliographic surveys of literature;
· conducts library and bibliographic classes on the rules for using the library, its electronic resources, traditional catalogs, and card files;
· provides informational and bibliographic support for scientific events of the Scientific Library and the University.
Main areas of the department's activities- ensuring multifaceted disclosure of the fund in the catalog system using both traditional and modern information technologies to scientifically justify, fully and promptly meet user requests; creating and maintaining a system of library catalogs and databases on traditional and electronic information carriers for the multifaceted disclosure of library and information resources; scientific and methodological work in the department’s profile.
Department employees carry out:
· the cataloging of publicationsand unpublished materials received in the library;
· scientific processingof new acquisitions (they create bibliographic descriptions in the electronic catalog according to current standards; they systematize new acquisitions according to the adopted UDC tables in the library);
· editall elements of bibliographic records, classification indexes, subject headings, keywords for the alphabetical-subject index and catalogs;
· organize and maintainthe electronic catalog; traditional (card) catalogs: alphabetical service catalog, alphabetical user catalog, systematic catalog;
· planned and currentediting of catalogs, duplication of cards for catalogs, placement of new arrival cards in the catalogs, removal of descriptions (main, auxiliary, additional) for literature that has been withdrawn;
· provide referenceson providing literature for educational disciplines.
Main task of the department- ensuring scientifically justified, complete, and prompt acquisition of documents; organization, preservation, and use of the library's collection. Formation of the library's collection according to the university's profile and the information needs of all categories of users. Accounting for the main and auxiliary library collections, their organization, preservation, and restoration. Preparation of instructional, methodological, and organizational materials on issues of acquisition, accounting for main and auxiliary library collections, their organization, and preservation. The department forms library collections according to educational plans, programs, and topics of scientific research at higher educational institutions by acquiring scientific, educational, reference, and fiction literature, periodicals, audio, video publications, CD, DVD discs, and electronic databases produced both in Ukraine and abroad; issues preliminary orders for documents based on requests from departments, subdivisions of the university, and departments of the Scientific Library; purchases documents according to current legislation of Ukraine; carries out the entire range of work related to ordering, acquiring, and processing literature, periodicals, and electronic publications, writing off lost, worn-out, and outdated literature; subscribes to periodicals and informational publications; controls the completeness of order fulfillment and the promptness of their arrivals.
The purpose and main directions of the department's activities are the development, implementation, and support of computer technologies for forming library collections and serving readers and subscribers, coordination of work in the field of informatization of libraries of higher educational institutions in the region, Ukraine, and libraries of other agencies. Creation and development of the electronic library of NUVHP; automated book distribution, electronic catalog in the web space. Preparation of instructional, methodological, and organizational materials on issues of library informatization; implementation of a range of measures aimed at increasing the qualifications of librarians in the field of formation and use of electronic information resources.
Since November 2017, NUVHP has been connected to global scientometric databases
asWeb of Science, Scopus. University researchers can register to use the content and capabilities of scientometric systems in the reading room for scholars in the information and bibliographic department of the Scientific Library of NUVHP (room 236/2). Individual consultations on usage are also provided by the staff of this department.
Since 2014, there has been aDigital repositoryoperating in the university, filled by the employees of the Scientific Library of NUVHP.
