The main directions of the department's scientific work include:
- conducting research and practically oriented work on a contractual and budgetary basis;
- the preparation of candidate dissertations by faculty members;
- the publication of monographs, scientific articles, educational materials, and textbooks;
- the participation of scientific and teaching staff in international and nationwide scientific and practical conferences, round tables, forums, and seminars;
- the development of scientific cooperation with leading enterprises in the transport sector and local government bodies;
- the completion of international internships and participation in grant projects;
- involving students in scientific research, participation in competitions, Olympiads, and conferences.

- conducting laboratory and practical classes using modern software for modeling transport processes;
- developing practical solutions for urban transport systems.
The department actively has a student scientific club‘Transporter’ (http://surl.li/bmmzbs), within which students:
- participate in national and international conferences;
- test the results of their own research;
- publish scientific articles in collaboration with faculty members;
- contribute to the implementation of departmental research topics.
The obtained scientific results are integrated into the educational process, contributing to the training of competitive specialists in the transport sector and strengthening the scientific and educational potential of the university.
