General Information
The Department of Theoretical Mechanics, Engineering Graphics, and Machine Science was established in 2013 through the structural merging of the Department of Descriptive Geometry, Engineering and Machine Graphics, the Department of Thermal Energy and Machine Science, and the Department of Material Resistance, Theoretical and Structural Mechanics. The head of the department is Dr. Ped. Sc., Professor Kozyar M.M.
Department of Descriptive Geometry, Engineering and Machine Graphics
The department was founded in 1947 according to the order of the Ministry of Higher Education of the USSR No. 39 dated July 17, 1947, based on the staffing of the teaching staff and the order of the Kyiv Hydro-Melioration Institute No. 123a dated August 18, 1947, as the "Graphics" department consisting of: head of the department Boris Grigoryevich Shaposchnikov, associate professor B.M. Svishnikov, and assistant V.V. Volkov. In 1959 the institute was relocated to Rivne and the "Descriptive Geometry and Graphics" department was organized. Since 1995, the department has been named "Descriptive Geometry, Engineering and Machine Graphics."

The department conducts work to improve the professional and business qualities of teachers, enhances the material and technical base, and increases the educational and methodological support of the department. A significant amount of work has been done in relevant areas of scientific research - geometric modeling using computer technology for solving a wide range of practical tasks, methodological and software support for machine graphics, and the use of mathematical tools in the study of graphic disciplines. The department has developed a business game "Design Bureau." Since 1980, educational television has been introduced into the department's educational process. During the tenure of associate professor Deyev S.S., work was carried out in such relevant areas of scientific research as geometric modeling using computer technology for solving a wide range of practical tasks, methodological and software support for machine graphics, and the use of mathematical tools in the study of graphic disciplines. The results of the research were directly implemented in the educational process, allowing the department to start teaching new disciplines such as the basics of machine graphics and computer graphics since 1995. During the preparation of the software for machine graphics, methods of drawing details from the original typical detail or node synthesized from typical constructive elements of the graphic model were used. This method has become widely used in design institutions in leading countries of the world. In 2002, the computer class of the department began operating. Since 2004, educational demonstration programs for graphic disciplines have been used in the educational process on CD media. The faculty of the department has carried out a significant amount of methodological and research work. The level of qualification of the teachers is systematically raised, new teaching methods are introduced, and the material and technical support of the educational process is improved.

Department of Thermal Energy and Machine Science
The creation of the department dates back to the Kyiv period. It was relocated to Rivne in 1959 under the name "Theory of Mechanisms and Machines and Machine Parts." The head of the department was PhD, Denisenko P.S. In 1961, associate professor, PhD Klin V.B. was elected as the head, leading it until 1973.
In the following years, the department was headed by:

- professor, DSc Prykhodko M.A. (2003-2008);

- Associate Professor, Ph.D. Strilets V.M. (2012-2013).
Since 1999, the department has organized the training of specialists in the field of "Energy" with a specialty in "Thermal Power Engineering". The faculty maintained close creative ties with the departments of the thermal power faculty of NTUU "KPI", the department of "Machine Parts", "Strength of Materials", "Thermal Power Stations and Heat Engineering" of Lviv Polytechnic National University, and the department of "Production Systems and Transportation Services" of the National Transport University, which allowed for the utilization of their experience in teaching and scientific-methodical work. The faculty consistently paid great attention to the scientific-methodical support of the educational process.
The "Machine Science" cycle teaches courses: "Machine Parts", "Machine Parts and Lifting-Transport Equipment", "Fundamentals of Design", "Theory of Mechanisms and Machines", "Theory of Machines and Mechanisms and Machine Parts", "Applied Mechanics", "Applied Mechanics and Fundamentals of Design", "Technical Mechanics."

Department of Strength of Materials, Theoretical and Construction Mechanics
As a separate structural unit, the Department of Theoretical Mechanics was established in 1970.
According to order No. 401 dated October 10, 2011, as of December 31, 2011, the Department of Theoretical Mechanics was liquidated, and based on the Department of Strength of Materials and Construction Mechanics, the Department of Strength of Materials, Theoretical and Construction Mechanics was created.
The department's faculty conducted research work on the theme: "Theoretical and experimental studies of the dynamics and strength of machine elements and structures."
A laboratory of polarization-optical methods was established and operated at the department, allowing for the study of the stress-strain state of machine elements and structures of complex geometric shape.
