History of the department
The department was established in 1965 under the name 'Metal Technology'. At that time, it consisted of 6 lecturers and 4 educational support staff, headed by Associate Professor, Ph.D. G.A. Karyakin. As an independent unit, the department existed until 1969, and from 1969 to 1971 it was part of the Department of Thermodynamics. In 1972, the department resumed work as an independent entity and was named 'Repair of Machines and Metal Technology' (head of the department – Associate Professor, Ph.D. G.A. Karyakin). In 1978, the department received the status of a graduating department, and from 1979 it was named 'Operation and Repair of Construction and Melioration Machines'. From 1987 to 1994, it functioned as the department 'Repair of Machines, Tractors and Metal Technology'. With the opening of a new specialty in 1992, the department was named 'Cars, Automotive Management and Metal Technology' (1995). Since 2013, the department has its current name 'Cars and Automotive Management'.
Over the years, the department has been headed by: Associate Professor, Ph.D. V.I. Akulin (1973-1975), Associate Professor, Ph.D. Y.M. Fabrovsky (1975-1985), Associate Professor, Ph.D. R.I. Marko (1985-1986), Professor, Ph.D. M.M. Marchuk (1986-2005), Associate Professor, Ph.D. Y.K. Kim (2005-2013), Associate Professor, Ph.D. V.M. Hlynchuk (2013-2021) and since 2022 to the present, the department is headed by Ph.D., Associate Professor O.S. Stadnyk.
During its existence, the department has evolved from a general engineering to a graduating department – from 1978 to 1987 with the specialty 'Mechanization of Hydraulic Melioration Works', from 1995-2016 with the specialty 'Cars and Automotive Management', and since 2016 - with the specialty 274 'Automobile Transport'.
In 2014, based on the group of companies http://avtograd-rivne.com, a branch of the Department of Cars and Automotive Management was opened. The head of the branch was appointed Ph.D., Associate Professor Marchuk R.M. Avtograd is a group of companies that has been operating in the Rivne region market for over 30 years. 'Vik-Expo', part of Avtograd, started in 1991. The main areas of the company's activities at that time were transportation, trade, and construction of European-type gas stations. Between 1995 and 2005, over 50 stations were built for networks such as 'ANP', 'THK', 'Lukoil', 'SHELL'. In 2003, the company entered the car market of the region, opening the first Skoda dealership. In the following years, the company became a dealer for brands Audi, SEAT, FIAT, VAZ, Renault, and Dacia. In 2009, the company entered the car market of the Volyn region, opening the business 'Lutsk-Expo' – the official representative of the Renault brand. The following year, 'Lutsk-Expo' received the dealership for the Honda brand. In 2009, the Avtograd group of companies became a dealer for Volkswagen and Honda in Rivne, in 2010 opened BOSCH Car Service, and in 2012 opened the Nissan automotive center.
At the initial stage of its establishment, the department conducted the educational process in the mechanical faculty with materials science, technology of construction materials, and fundamentals of substitution, and had only one specialized laboratory and training workshop in a temporary room with three metal-cutting machines and one welder's workplace – with a total area of up to 50 m2. Now the department conducts educational processes for the training of bachelors in 3 educational and scientific institutes – mechanical, construction and architecture, and water management.
In the educational and scientific mechanical institute, the department ensures the training of bachelors and masters in specialty 274 'Automobile Transport'. The department teachers conduct educational processes in professionally-oriented and specialized disciplines and supervise master's theses. Annual competitions are held for the best master's thesis based on the specialty and for certain educational disciplines taught in the department.
The department carries out educational activities with students of the specialty 'Automobile Transport'.
Throughout the existence of the department, one of the priority areas has been the methodological support of the educational process. Currently, the department has a complete set of methodological guidelines, educational manuals with the emblem of the Ministry of Education and the NUWGP, and lecture notes.
