Scientific Activity

The scientific research work of the department's team is aimed at improving the properties of materials and alloys and enhancing the operation of transport machines and the technology of their repair. In the late 1970s, a scientific research laboratory 'Maintenance and Repair of Reclamation Equipment' was established at the department. The department has a postgraduate program in the specialty 'Automobiles and Tractors'. Under the guidance of Professor Marchuk M.M., 5 candidate dissertations have been defended.

During the years of the department's existence, its teachers have defended one doctoral dissertation (Yu.V. Morozov) and 14 candidate dissertations (Ye.M. Fabrovskyi, Yu.P. Tkachuk, M.K. Mazepa, A.A. Diakov, M.M. Marchuk, V.L. Pakharenko, S.V. Yastremskyi, M.M. Karnaukhov, O.P. Ryzhyi, O.A. Veremchuk, V.M. Hlynchuk, O.A. Kolesnyk, R.M. Marchuk, R.M. Ihnatiuk, O.S. Stadnyk and N.M. Marchuk) and more than 100 patents and certificates of authorship have been obtained. The results of the scientific research work of the department's staff have been generalized in regulatory technical documentation for machine operation, implemented in design developments, and published in more than 300 scientific works. They have been presented at scientific and practical conferences of various levels, exhibited multiple times at exhibitions, and are known not only in Ukraine but also abroad. Yu.V. Morozov's monograph 'Methods of Rational Selection and Calculation of Structural Parameters of Diesel Fuel Equipment' is used by organizations in Lithuania (Vilnius) that are engaged in the design and manufacture of fuel equipment.

Currently, the scientific research of the department has expanded to current topics related to resource conservation. In this direction, monographs 'Renewable Energy Sources' and 'Oil Products Market: Theory and Practice' have been published. Professor M.M. Marchuk is working on standardizing the consumption of fuel and lubricants by transport and construction machines; Associate Professor Ihnatiuk R.M. is examining the problem of energy efficiency in the use of modern vehicles and researching resource-saving technologies in road transport; Associate Professor Stadnyk O.S. is studying car recycling problems and prospective car repair technologies; Associate Professor Ryzhyi O.P. is working on improving the operation of car engines and enhancing their efficiency; Associate Professor R.M. Marchuk is investigating ways to improve the maneuverability, controllability, and stability of vehicles.

The department has established scientific ties with related departments of higher educational institutions in Ukraine, particularly the National Transport University (Kyiv) and the Kharkiv National Automobile and Highway University. The department is expanding its research directions. Specifically, a theory of transportation capacity of material flows has been developed, and a number of dissertations aimed at improving the operational properties of vehicles have been prepared.

The department successfully collaborates with production organizations in Rivne and the region, providing expert assessments on metallurgy, fuel and lubricants, and the technical condition of vehicles at their request.
