Scientific Activity

Scientific Work

The department staff is actively engaged in research work, participating in scientific and technical as well as scientific and practical conferences, including university, national, foreign, and international ones.
The main areas of research conducted by the department staff include: analysis of existing mining technologies used in world practice; development of waste-free mining technologies; analysis of integrated use of mineral resources and improvement of extraction processes.
In particular, under the guidance of Professor Z.R. Malanchuk, effective technologies for well hydromining of mineral resources, environmentally safe and comprehensive rational use of natural resources in the region have been developed.
The scientific developments of the department are protected by patents for utility models and inventions.

Student Science

Annually, students studying in the specialty "Mining" participate in and become winners of the I and II rounds of the All-Ukrainian Olympiad in the specialty "Mining," the University competition for scientific works named after Huli Korolova, and the All-Ukrainian competition of Student Scientific Works.
Students also participate in domestic and international scientific-practical conferences and seminars, conduct scientific research, and are co-authors of scientific articles and patents for inventions.

Training of scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel in the department.

The training of scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel in the Department of "Development of Deposits and Mining of Minerals" is carried out through doctoral and postgraduate studies at the university and other educational institutions. The department has a PhD and doctoral program in the specialty "Geotechnical and Mining Mechanics," headed by Professor Z.R. Malanchuk. Zinoviy Romanovych Malanchuk has authored over 300 scientific and methodological works, including: 5 scientific discoveries, 20 monographs and manuals, and 22 patents. He established a scientific school. He has trained 8 candidates of sciences and 1 doctor of sciences.
