International activities of NUVHP for 2025

The international activities of the National University of Water Management and Nature Resources use are carried out in accordance with the adopted internationalization strategy of the university by 2030. The university maintains business relationships with higher education institutions and research organizations in Western and Central Europe, Asia, the USA, and is a member of international scientific organizations: the Magna Charta Universitatum, the European Association for International Education (EAIE), the Baltic University Programme (BUP), the Caucasus Universities Association, the Three Seas University Network, the International Association for Global Water Partnership, the International Water Association (IWA), the Eurasian Union of Universities, the International Academy of Life Safety, the International Peat Society, the International Chamber of Commerce, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Alliance of European Technical Universities – UNIGreen, a networkConnectEDand an international research networkSolidarity Research Network (Switzerland).

The goal of the internationalization of the National University of Water Management and Nature Resources Use is to deepen international cooperation in the field of educational and research activities, promote sustainable development and the competitiveness of the university, and enhance its national and international authority and rankings in global standings. An important priority is the adaptation of educational programs and research practices to European and global standards to ensure high-quality education, develop innovations, and implement international projects and programs aimed at sustainable development, environmental safety, and the post-war recovery of Ukraine.

At the National University of Water Management and Nature Resources Use, systematic work is being carried out to improve the quality of training specialists according to relevant educational programs. In particular, this is realized through the formation of competencies and skills in students and academic staff that are relevant to contemporary challenges and societal needs, by actively involving them in international academic mobility programs, joint educational and scientific projects, internships, international training sessions, and the training and implementation of results from international research initiatives into the educational process.

Thus, over the course of 2025, 159academic staff members of NUVHGP participated in international academic mobility programs for the purposes of internships, conducting scientific research, training, participating in summer schools, certified training within grant programs, twinning initiatives, and teaching. Another 15 academic staff members traveled abroad to represent NUVHGP at international scientific and practical conferences, forums, and significant international platforms. In total, 174 staff members of NUVHGP were participants in programs and events within the framework of the university's internationalization (see Table 2):

In the reporting year, the university ensured the implementation of academic mobility for higher education seekers in the following main areas:

· education withinthe twinning initiative (PAL courses– 62 students,credit education– 2 students from NNIEAVH, NNIKIT,

· credit mobility within the program Erasmus+ KA1– 8 students (2 – NNIEM, 2 – NNIEAVH, 3 – NNIAZ, 1 - NNIPGHN),

· degree education– 5 students of the National Institute of Public Administration,

· certified internship within international projects– 14 students (Horizon Europe, Oxford, STEM EDUCATION),

· Erasmus+ Jean Monnet practices and initiatives- 4,

· Fordham University Summer School– 10 students.

The geography of academic mobility for scientific and pedagogical staff of NUWGP covers 9 countries: Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Italy, USA, United Kingdom, China, Greece, Belgium.

Also, cooperation continues withCaribbean University and Technological University in Cancun (Mexico) in COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) programs. On January 26, 2026, the international COIL course "Global Climate Change and Decarbonization: Intercultural Exchange" will begin, with the possibility of obtaining certificates for both NUWGP students and Caribbean University students within the "Incoming Mobility COIL" program.

In August 2025, theinternational Summer School on Telemedicine from Fordham University, USA, was implemented for the second time at NUWGP, with 10 participants (students from NNIKIT, NNIEAVH, NNIAG).

Since 2022, NUVHP has actively collaborated with Newcastle University, UK within the framework of a twinning program and this year signed a Long-Term Cooperation Plan with the support of the companyCCG. Throughout 2025, the successful practice of implementing the PAL Courses program from Newcastle University continued: 62 higher education students and 14 teachers (76 program participants) received the corresponding certificates. In total, 210 students participated in the English language enhancement program from 2022 to 2025. Additionally, 20 students completed a semester of study at Newcastle University, UK as part of the international exchange program. Furthermore, a grant project was implementedPEACER2UK and 2 Summer Schools.

NUVHP is working to ensure the educational process is staffed by highly qualified personnel with international experience in organizing educational activities and assessing knowledge quality, including through participation in bilateral and multilateral exchanges of academic, scientific-pedagogical workers, and applicants for their internships and professional development, as well as attracting scientists and specialists from foreign universities and leading firms to conduct thematic lectures, courses, and master classes for students and academic staff of NUVHP (import of educational services).

NUVHP has joined the English language learning platform ‘English4Ukraine’, implemented by Mariupol State University in collaboration with Reallyenglish with the support of the ‘Twinning’ project. All interested parties can take English language courses from level A2 to C1 and prepare for the certified IELTS exam.

Throughout 2025, as part of the development of international academic cooperation, online lectures were held for higher education applicants of NUVHP's educational and scientific institutes involving teachers from foreign higher education institutions:

1) American Professor F. Leiny;

2) weekend course ‘Academic Research: Tools, Techniques, Strategies’ with native speaker and scientist from the USA (graduate of the prestigious George Mason University) John Patrick Higgins;

3) everyone was welcome to participate in a series of open lectures for the academic community of participating universities from the initiative of The Grassroots Institute (Canada), to which our university joined;

4) Professors from Fordham University (New York, USA) consisting of:

- John J Chelsom – Director of the 'Applied Medical Informatics' program, Fordham University.

- Jay H Chelsom – Faculty of International Relations, King's College London, University of London.

Functioning of programs'Dual Diploma'with foreign universities is one of the requirements for Ukrainian higher education institutions to participate in international ranking programs. The opportunity to obtain joint diplomas opens new employment opportunities for students, promotes language internships, and the acquisition of professional competencies.

The university conducts joint training of specialists within the educational program "Dual Degree" with 6 universities:

One of the strategic directions of the internationalization strategy of NUVHP is the development and implementation of international educational projects (see Table 4):

Project Jean Monnet Module on public relations, communication, and media in the EU Erasmus+ Programme	Project goal: to create an educational module and special events for universities, municipalities, communities, and non-governmental organizations to accelerate the transfer of knowledge about governance and EU-Ukraine communication. The module will be based on project and problem-oriented learning, serious games, case studies, and research on public relations and communication in the EU and Ukraine. The key methodology will involve public relations and communication simulations, modeling and scenarios of communication campaigns, shaping public opinion, crisis campaigns, fact-checking and fake news, consultations, and joint workshops with local authorities. The project will create a network of EU-Ukraine experts in public relations and communication. The form of learning will be a winter school for practitioners and master's students, civic organizations, administrations, online learning (blended learning), and serious gaming events. 6.	UK–UA Visiting Professors Programme (EDU CONNECT)	This is an opportunity for universities to invite faculty with experience from leading British institutions that are in the TOP-250 global rankings QS, THE, or ARWU. The program is created to strengthen Ukraine's integration into the international scientific and educational space and raise the level of STEM education, which today plays a key role in enhancing defense capability, rebuilding the country, and forming its long-term resilience. Collaboration between Ukrainian and British universities combines the experience and modern approaches of two academic cultures, opening access for Ukrainian students and faculty to the best global practices. Within the framework of the program, British professors will work as lecturers and engage in joint research, conduct consultations, open lectures, practical classes, and will definitely make offline visits to Ukrainian universities. This format ensures a deeper exchange of knowledge, supports the development of scientific projects, and expands international academic ties. As of December 2025, 127 faculty and staff from NUWGP have been dispatched to foreign universities for the purposes of internships, training, professional development, teaching, conducting scientific research, participating in seminars, conferences, implementing projects, and promoting the university in international organizations and alliances.

It should be noted that a significant portion of the trips is financed through international grant projects and funds from the host party, and therefore, provided that significant educational, scientific, or organizational results are achieved, such trips are advisable to be counted towards the overall financial and reputational assets of the university.

Visa and immigration activities.Foreigners and stateless persons who arrived in Ukraine for study purposes were issued permits for the duration of study, which is determined by the order of the educational institution on the establishment of study periods for foreign students. Documents for the issuance of the permit were submitted no later than 15 working days before the end of the established period of stay in Ukraine.

Permits for temporary residence of those students who completed their studies at NUWGP were canceled.

As of December 2025, there are 6 foreign students studying at NUWGP, citizens of the Republic of Moldova, the Republic of Belarus, Azerbaijan, and the People's Republic of China.

Part of the students are in Ukraine, the majority are outside Ukraine, studying both full-time and part-time (Table.6).
